Project Proposal: Kahuho Word of Life Vocational Training Centre

Executive Summary

The Kahuho Word of Life Vocational Training Centre (VTC) is a community initiative under the Word of Life to Nations Ministry (Certificate Reg. No. 41542). The goal is to equip over 500 vulnerable youth, orphans, and children from needy families in Kahuho Village and Trans-Nzoia County with vocational skills for sustainable economic empowerment.

The project aims to:

  • Break the cycle of poverty
  • Increase employment by 50%
  • Offer alternatives to youth who cannot continue with formal education

Background / Introduction

Word of Life to Nations Ministry, led by Bishop Noah Muhando Simiyu, has been supporting disadvantaged communities for over a decade. In 2017, the ministry founded St. Elizabeth Mission School to provide education and daily meals to orphans and vulnerable children. The school has now grown to serve 220 children up to Grade 6.

However, many of these children and other community members face a lack of opportunity beyond primary school. This VTC project is designed to give them a lifeline through skills training.

Problem Statement

Poverty rates in Kahuho and surrounding areas are significantly higher than the national average. Limited access to:

  • Education
  • Marketable skills
  • Employment opportunities – has left many youth, especially girls, in cycles of dependency, early marriage, and unemployment.

Project Objectives

  1. Train 300+ youth in high-demand vocational skills
  2. Provide opportunities for St. Elizabeth Mission School leavers (Grade 6 and beyond)
  3. Reduce poverty by 70% in the local community
  4. Build self-reliance and economic independence among graduates

Target Beneficiaries

  • Grade 6 leavers from St. Elizabeth Mission School
  • Vulnerable boys and girls from Kahuho Village and nearby areas
  • Youth (up to age 25) seeking practical skills for employment

Beneficiaries will be selected through a community-based and transparent process.
